After purchasing their new home, our clients knew they had some repairs to make after a complete home inspection. The original deck (more like an oversized shipping pallet) was insecurely set on the ground just outside the back sliding door. “Where’s the best place to put that pesky downspout?” you ask. “Why not right under the deck?” Horizon had the solution: remove the mosquito-infested shipping pallet and give our friends the patio that this new home deserved.
We installed a new interlocking concrete paver patio to replace the floating deck. We removed a structurally unstable concrete retaining wall and replaced it with a matching segmental retaining wall. A new set of 4-feet wide slab steps that wrap the outer edge of the new retaining wall provide an easy and smooth transition from the upper deck to the lower patio. Horizon added a few natural boulders and some plantings to accent the area and a new, beautiful outdoor living space was born!
